Colony residents demand high capacity transformer

CHIMPU, Aug 3: The Van Vihar Youth Welfare Association in a press release on Friday requested the power department to immediately install a high capacity transformer in Van Vihar Colony here for flawless power supply.
The association said although the department gave assurances in this regard, it has not yet installed such a transformer in the colony. It said the colony has been experiencing fluctuation in power supply and low voltage for several months, which it said has been causing great inconvenience to the consumers, particularly the students preparing for examinations.
“The low voltage has also affected water supply, due to which the colony dwellers are not getting enough water for daily use,” it said.
The association said the low voltage problem mainly arose after the creation of a new colony adjacent to Van Vihar.
“Further, criminal activities like theft, burglary, etc, are increasing day by day due to nonexistence of streetlights or high-mast lamps in the area,” it said.
