Fed resents delay in BCT road work

ITANAGAR, Aug 3: Expressing resentment over the inordinate delay in completing the widening work on the Balipara-Charduar-Tawang (BCT) road, the All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation has requested the state government to the seek the status report on the road from the Border Roads Organization (BRO).
Holding the BRO responsible for the slow progress of work, the federation in a representation to the chief secretary on Friday claimed that “the construction agency does not have the required machineries and manpower at the work site.”
It urged the CS instruct the West Kameng district administration not to entertain any request from the BRO for further extension of prohibition on traffic movement on the road until the BRO submits the status report.
“The BCT road is the lifeline of East Kameng, West Kameng and Tawang districts,” the federation said, adding that the public cannot be made to suffer “because of the inefficiency of the road executing agency.”
Demanding “concrete steps” from the government within 15 days for early completion of road, the federation threatened to launch a democratic movement in the three districts if the demand is not met.
The transport federation had in 2012 launched a stir in Tawang and West Kameng in protest against the inordinate delay in road construction.
