ITANAGAR, Aug 4: Health & Family Welfare Special Secretary Tapasya Raghav has urged line departments to coordinate with the health department for effective coverage under National Deworming Day (NDD) which set to be launched on 27 August.
Addressing a coordination meeting with officers from the departments of education, women & child development, panchayati raj, and PHE & water supply, and senior medical officers of the health department here on Friday, Raghav urged them to provide accurate data of the number of students in government and private schools and anganwadi centres, saying it is “critical for comprehensive target setting to ensure proper coverage of all children in the age group of 1-19 years.”
“One nodal teacher from both government and private schools should be identified and trained on NDD guidelines and entrusted with the responsibility,” she said.
Expressing disappointment with the unavailability of potable water in schools, she urged the PHED to look into the issue and share data regarding availability of potable water in schools.
Raghav also stressed on the need to ensure community mobilization through anganwadi workers and ASHAs, dissemination of IEC materials, and proper IEC-BCC activities for creating wide awareness.
