Changlang gets mobile traffic unit

CHANGLANG, Aug 14: Changlang North MLA Tesam Pongte launched the district’s first mobile traffic unit from the SP office premises here on Tuesday.
Commending the police for its initiative, the MLA expressed hope that the step taken by the department would go a long way in bringing traffic discipline among the commuters.
He urged the traffic police to work with dedication, enjoy their duties, and inculcate traffic awareness among drivers politely.
SP JK Lego informed that the traffic unit would be looking after overall traffic management in and around Changlang town.
“This unit will also act as first responder in all RTA cases in the town and evacuate the injured to the nearby hospitals,” he added.
The unit will also render dedicated services in all aspects of traffic policing, such as motor vehicle checking, issuing of challan, etc, he said, adding that such units would be launched at all the police stations in the district in the days to come “on need basis.”
Deputy Commissioner Wayong Khimhun was also present at the launch.
