MIAO, Aug 16: Oil India Limited (OIL) on Wednesday announced to sponsor the construction of a foot suspension bridge over the Noa-Dehing river here in Changlang district.
A budget of Rs 2.25 crore has been earmarked for a span of two years – 2018-19 to 2019-20 – for the purpose.
The OIL management has urged the government department concerned to furnish the detailed project report along with the cost estimate of the project, so that the earmarked amount can be utilized within the current fiscal.
Meanwhile, in a joint press statement, the N’hkumsang Council and the United Miao Mission expressed their gratitude to the OIL for considering the long pending demand of the people of N’hkumsang region.
The locals have for long been demanding construction of a motorable suspension bridge over the river. Owing to the absence of surface communication connecting Miao township with the right bank of the Noa-Dehing river, the Singphos residing in Pisi, Khamuk, Lewang, Phup and Khagam villages have had to face much difficulties for decades, especially during monsoons.
