NIRJULI, Aug 21: Altogether 150 enumerators, supervisors and scrutiny officers from different parts of the state participated in a state level training programme on livestock census organized here by the animal husbandry veterinary & dairy development (AHV&DD) department on 18 August.
The participants were trained on different steps of data collection, recording, compilation, processing, and final submission to the government of India through the digital mode.
AHV&DD Director Dr ND Minto, who chaired the inaugural session of the training, gave an overview of the different stages of the 20th Livestock Census. He exhorted all those assigned to the task to carry out the census as per the timeline framed by the Centre.
Elaborating the anticipated issues at the time of door-to-door visits for the survey and documentation process, he emphasized the need to create awareness among the farmers about the importance of the livestock census.
Stat & ISS nodal officer Dr T Heli said the 20th Livestock Census would be different from earlier ones as the data recording, compilation and submission would be done through tablets and computers, making the entire process digital.
For better understanding of the modalities of the Livestock Census app, all the district veterinary officers were provided with two tablet computers and training materials with CDs containing the LG directory in which all the 6,412 villages are mapped by the NIC with different usernames of scrutiny officers (DVOs), supervisors (VOs) and enumerators (field staffs) for reference.
The training was supervised by GoI-trained resource persons Dr Heli and ISS computer operator R Diyum.
