AIZAWL, Aug 23: The Arunachal Pradesh sub-junior boys’ football team on Thursday created history by qualifying for a national event.
In the ongoing Sub-Junior Boys’ National Football Championship-2018 Northeast zone qualifiers held here on Thursday, the Arunachal team defeated heavyweight Manipur by 2-0 goals.
Earlier the team had defeated Assam 4-0.
With this win, Arunachal has finished at the top of its group and qualified for the final round of the national championship for the first time in the history of the competition.
The final round will be held in October.
“It was a must win match for us, and our boys showed strong mentality to register this fabulous win for us,” said team head coach, Rocky Ramching. “Hopefully, we will continue this upto the final round of the championship.”
