ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The Arunachal Youth Organisation (AYO) has submitted a memorandum to the chief minister, seeking his attention on early construction of the greenfield airport, and on other issues.
The organisation said the airport construction was being politicized by a few politicians with vested interests for their individual benefit.
“We strongly stand for its construction, whether it may be at Karsingsa or Hollongi,” the AYO said in its representation.
It also sought regular functioning of the drug de-addiction centre in Lathao through an eligible and reputed NGO, and release of funds to ensure its proper functioning.
Highlighting the increase in drug consumption in the capital, the union sought the establishment of a drug de-addiction centre in Itanagar, as well as in all the district headquarters.
The organisation also demanded that an eviction drive be carried out immediately against illegal encroachers on government quarters in the capital complex and the district headquarters.
“Government employees are compelled to find accommodation for themselves and their families in rented houses, for which the government is not even granting house rent allowance,” it said, and asked the government to check illegal encroachment.
