Arunachal joins NNM celebration

ITANAGAR, Sep 2: Arunachal Pradesh has joined the rest of the country in celebrating the National Nutrition Month (NNM) from 1 to 30 September to promote healthy eating habit and nutrition education.
The programme focuses on antenatal care, optimal breastfeeding (early and exclusive), complementary feeding, anaemia, growth monitoring, girls’ education, diet, right age of marriage, hygiene and sanitation, and food fortification.
The urban ICDS project in Itanagar organised a ‘nutrition rally’ at P Sector, which was participated in by Women & Child Development Director TP Loyi, ICDS field functionaries, anganwadi workers, helpers, women, and children.
Loyi administered the pledge to fight against malnutrition and work towards bringing awareness about nutrition education.
The scheme has already paid to 1803 beneficiaries out of the 2,498 enrolled. The amount is paid directly to the beneficiaries’ accounts through the PMMVY common application software.
The NNM was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 March, from Jhunjhunu, in Rajasthan.
The month will be celebrated in convergence with ministries like health & family welfare, drinking water & sanitation, panchayati raj, rural development, housing & urban affairs, human resources development, information & broadcasting, consumer affairs, food & public distribution, tribal affairs, minority affairs, youth & sports, and AYUSH.
All the ministries have chalked out activities for the month-long celebration. The women & child development ministry is the nodal ministry for the celebration. It has launched a dashboard, http://poshanabhiyaan.gov.in, to monitor and display the celebrations across the country.
