MEBO, Sep 13: Local MLA Lombo Tayeng stressed on proper implementation of government flagship programmes at the grassroots level, and said he was committed to take all welfare programmes to the doorsteps of the people.
Addressing a public meeting at the Siluk dere here on Thursday, Tayeng asked the East Siang district administration to create awareness among the people about the welfare schemes by conducting ‘Sarkar aapke dwar’ camps.
He later distributed CGI sheets to 97 families in Siluk village under the Non-Border Development Programme.
Tayeng informed that Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his deputy Chowna Mein have introduced the provision of allocating Rs 1 crore in the budget for the development of every block.
“As per provision, 20 percent is permitted for sanitary and housing purposes, and it was inadequate to provide CGI sheets to 97 families. Additional Rs 14 lakhs was given from the MLA discretionary fund,” he said.
The MLA also gave assurance that every flood-affected family would soon receive compensation.
Mebo ADC Hage Lailang informed that his administration was all set to host the ‘Sarkar aapke dwar’ camp at Kiyit on 17 September. He asked the people to carry valid documents to avail the services during the camp.
