DAPORIJO, Sep 25: A two-day ‘health mela’ organized by the Upper Subansiri district administration and sponsored by the National Health Mission started here on Tuesday.
The mela was inaugurated by MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju, in the presence of MLAs Punji Mara and Paknga Bage, ex-MLA Tapeng Siga, DC Danish Ashraf, and DMO Dr R Sikom.
Twenty-five medical stalls have been set up and 20 doctors are participating in the mela, offering their services free of cost in the form of consultations, investigations, and medicines.
As many as 2000 patients availed free medical services on the first day.
Rijiju visited all the medical counters and interacted with the medical teams, and followed it up by inaugurating projects under CSR and BADP. He also lighted the lamp to mark the birth anniversary of Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya.
Addressing the people, Rijiju said health melas are organized to provide free healthcare services, health education, early diagnoses, pathological tests, and medicines. He commended the administration, the medical department, and the defence services for organizing the event.
The union minister also informed about the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana, which aim to provide insurance cover and cashless healthcare services to the people.
Mara and Bage also spoke.
DRCHO Dr G Hankar highlighted the health services being provided during the mela.
