ZIRO, Sep 26: The 13th legal literary club cum library in the state was inaugurated here at Mihin Bagang Government Secondary School, Hapoli under Lower Subansiri district by Budi Habung, member secretary of the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) on Tuesday.
The club cum library is part of sensitizing school and college students about legal rights under the NALSA scheme.
The Lower Subansiri District Legal Services Authority, under the aegis of the APSLSA conducted the event in collaboration with Sarvahitey, an NGO under its project, ‘Paper Bridge’.
During the programme, Habung spoke on the background and the objective of opening such legal literacy clubs in schools and colleges as provided under the NALSA scheme.
He also highlighted the functions and role of the legal services authority in providing legal aid to the poor and marginalized sections of the society.
Sarvahitey has been running the project ‘Paper Bridge’ in India. It plans to open 1,000 libraries across the country to promote culture of reading, capacity building, digital literacy, awareness on various government schemes, to empower women and youth, provide career counselling and run cultural exchange programmes.
The NGO donated around 400 books on various topics, while the state legal services authority donated 300 legal pamphlets to the library.
