ITANAGAR, Sep 26: A group of budding mountaineers from Arunachal Pradesh have successfully climbed Mt Baisakhi in West Kameng district.
They are a part of an expedition team from Arunachal and Manipur Mountaineering and Treking Association, who undertook expedition in collaboration with the National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAs).
The expedition was guided by Everester, Col Sarfraz Sigh, who is also the Director of NIMAS, Dirang.
It took team 12 days to summit the Mt Baisakhi, which located at 18,000 feet above sea level.
The team members from Arunachal Pradesh are Tabu Dayam, Oyon Pertin, Tosap Rime, Konjo Tsering, Tsering Tashi, Hari Mepo and Tashi Yangzom.
The team left from NIMAS campus on 8 September and the first team comprising eight members reached the summit on 19 September.
The 14-member second team reached the summit on the morning of 20 September.
