RUKSIN, Sep 28: The East Siang women & child development department has launched the National Nutrition Mission on a war footing to reach every corner of the district.
The scheme aims to reduce the level of stunting from 38.4% (NFHS-4) to 25% by 2022, low nutrition and anaemia in children, and low birth weight of babies across India.
As part of the mission, a programme themed ‘Swachh aangan, sahi poshan, desh roshan poshan’ was held on Wednesday at Debing under the Ruksin ICDS project.
Pasighat ICDS Deputy Director Ponung Ering Angu informed the gathering about the launch of the programme by the prime minister in March this year, while Dr Asum Perme spoke about the causes and consequences of anaemia.
Participants included pregnant women and lactating mothers, children, adolescent girls, gaon buras, AWWS, AWHS, and new fathers.
