ITANAGAR, Sep 29: The rank and file of the state BJP on Saturday paid homage to the soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation on ‘Surgical Strike Day’ by organising a function at the party office here to commemorate the second anniversary of the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army across the LoC.
State BJP president Tapir Gao and Kanubari MLA Gabriel Wangsu addressed the gathering.
In Tawang, the Indian Army brigade there celebrated the day from 28 to 29 September.
As part of the celebration, the brigade screened a short film on the special operations conducted by the Indian Army, besides organizing a military band display and a weapon and equipment display for the people.
The event was earlier inaugurated by Ball of Fire Division GOC, Maj Gen RK Jha, in the presence of Tawang Brigade Commander, Brig Zubin Bhatnagar and other senior army officers.
The East Siang district BJP also observed the day in Pasighat.
