Governor emphasizes on early detection of cancer cases
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Governor BD Mishra inaugurated the two-day 13th annual conference of the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India – North East Zonal Chapter here on Friday.
In his inaugural address, Mishra emphasized on creating awareness and enforcing measures for early detection of cancer cases in order to mitigate the cancer challenges.
He underscored the need for effective policies and cancer preventive strategies, and called upon all concerned, including health officials, to make sincere efforts to create awareness on the causes of cancer.
After listening to the cancer specialists speak on the challenges in cancer treatment in Arunachal Pradesh, the governor assured that he would take up the matter with the central government.
Guwahati (Assam)-based Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute Director Dr AC Kakati, Arunachal Pradesh Health Services Director Dr Moromor Lego, state nodal officer of the Cancer Control Programme Dr S Tsrting, Shillong (Meghalaya)-based NEIGRIHMS’ radiation oncology department head Dr Vikas Jagtap, and Dr Leena Gupta also addressed the inaugural session.
A large number of oncologists from different parts of the country are participating in the two-day conference. (Raj Bhavan)
