PASIGHAT, Oct 31: Fifty-two farmers from Boleng, Panging, Koyu and Banggo villages of Siang, Lower Siang, and Dibang Valley districts are participating in the three-day training programme on ‘Integrated pest and disease management of horticulture crops for doubling farmers’ income’, which began here in East Siang district on Wednesday.
The programme is being organised by the Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Medziphema, Nagaland in collaboration with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of East Siang and the College of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF), Central Agricultural University, Pasighat.
Addressing the inaugural session, CHF Dean, Dr P Debnath emphasized on integrated pest management through organic pesticide and farming system to ensure quality production.
He also advised the participants to take up newer technologies in the field of agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry for better returns.
Training in-charge from Nagaland CIH Dr Moasosang Longkumer, while highlighting the activities of CIH for the welfare of farmers, encouraged the framers to adopt scientific farming, according to an official release.
