DAPORIJO, Nov 4: RK Mission Hospital, Itanagar, in collaboration with NGO My Vision and My Mission organised a training programme on eye screening for the accredited social health activists (ASHA) here in Upper Subansiri district on Saturday.
The purpose of the training was to develop human resource for providing eye-care services, build the capacity of the ASHAs to manage eye patients at primary level health facilities, and enhance community awareness on eye-care through the ASHAs.
Eye specialist Dr Bialum Sorum spoke on the importance of such training for health personnel and teachers.
Circle Officer Yamo Tamut advised the health workers to teach the villagers what they learned from the training. She urged them to participate in the eye camp to be held here on 28 November, wherein vision screening and minor eye operation would be done free of cost.
ASHAs from various places, including Taksing, Limeking, Nacho and Siyum attended the programme.
