BHALUKPONG, Nov 5: The games and sports event of the 46th Nyethrii-Dow festival of the Aka (Hrusso) community got underway here in West Kameng district on Monday.
The football tournament was the main attraction of the first day. It was kicked off by the environment and forests ministry’s Regional Empowered Committee member Fesom Sekong, who lauded the celebration committee and appealed to the participants to “maintain brotherhood through sports.”
The opening match was played between Sakrin XI FC and Gorkha XI FC, which was won by Sakrin FC.
Sixteen teams from various parts of Thrizino-Buragoan assembly constituency and neighbouring Nafra and Bana are participating.
All the games and sporting events, including traditional sports, are being sponsored by local MLA Kumsi Sidisow.
