ITANAGAR, Nov 5: The state’s Subroto Cup boys’ U-17 champion GHSS, Daporijo (Upper Subansiri district), representing Arunachal Pradesh left here for New Delhi to participate in the 59th International Subroto Mukerjee Cup Football Tournament beginning in the national capital on 8 November.
The participating teams have been divided into eight pools of five, and Arunachal Pradesh has been placed in Pool C, along with SAI, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Kerala.
A briefing session was held at the secondary education directorate here this afternoon before the team’s departure.
Secondary Education Director Gania Leij, Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy Principal Takam Pate and other officials of the directorate were present in it.
Briefing the players about the tournament, Leij advised them to maintain team spirit and cooperate with one another for better results.
Stating that winning and losing are part of any game, he said the event would give them a good exposure, and that the experience they gain would come handy in the future.
Taw Dulom and Musad Mondal are the manager and the coach of the team.
