KIMIN, Nov 9: Arunachal Pradesh State Council of Science & Technology (APSCS&T) Chairman Bamang Mangha on Friday inaugurated the children’s science park at the government higher secondary school here in Papum Pare district.
In his address, Mangha said the aim of setting up the facility was to promote science education and make it fun.
“A person can acquire 80% of his knowledge through experience, and it is true for science also,” he said.
Science & Technology Director CD Mungyak spoke on the importance of knowledge and play, and urged the teachers to allow students to spend their free time to play in the park.
“The development of the children’s science park is an initiative of the science & technology department to promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics among the students,” he said.
SDO Likha Tejji asked the teachers to use the science park regularly to “demonstrate the basic principles of physics, such as lever, pendulum, size and distance, etc, to the students.”
He advised the students and teachers to use the facility “with utmost care to reap the maximum benefit.”
The AP Science Centre presented a ‘robotic show’ on the occasion.
