CHANDIGARH, Nov 12: The 4th edition of the North East Youth Fest (NEYF), Chandigarh concluded here in Punjab with a colourful evening function last Saturday.
IPS officer Niharika Bhatt, who along with OSD to Union Health Minister, Dr Virendar Garg, attended the valedictory function, congratulated the organizers and the participants for conceptualizing the innovative event centered around the theme, ‘Northeast youth towards nation-building’.
Bhatt urged the youths of the NE region to channel their inner qualities and energy into positive activities, and Garg offered assistance to the youths from the region in matters of medical emergencies and treatment.
The two-day educational and socio-cultural event witnessed the participation of over 1000 youths from the eight northeastern states, and more than a dozen motivational speakers conducting sessions on themes such as nation-building, personal responsibility, addictive habits, and social media responsibility, besides a group discussion on ‘What makes Northeast youth land in trouble?’.
The participants presented dances, songs and a costume show, all depicting the rich cultural heritage of the region. Representatives from every state of the region showcased their respective state through PowerPoint presentations.
The event, an initiative of the Don Bosco Youth Centre, Itanagar and Don Bosco Navjeevan Society, Chandigarh, is organized annually, stressing on education, entertainment and moral values, to promote the youths of the NE and their talents and help them participate in nation-building.
