ITANAGAR, Nov 12: The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) has issued a notice directing the Yupia WRD division EE (against APIC No 224/2018), the Mechukha PWD division EE (APIC No 281/2018), the Daporijo PWD division EE (APIC No 257/2018), the Pasighat textile & handicraft deputy director (APIC No 289/2018), the Ziro textile & handicraft deputy director (APIC No 290/2018), and the land management joint director here (APIC No 301/2018) to appear before the commission’s court with all the information sought by the appellants during the hearing re-fixed on 21 November. These officers are the public information officers (PIO) of their respective departments.
“Prima facie, the commission is of the opinion that the PIOs have without any reasonable cause refused to receive the applications for information or have not furnished information within the specified time under Sub-section (1) of Section 7 of the RTI Act, 2005, or wrongly denied the request for information or knowingly given incorrect, incomplete or misleading information which were the subject matter of the request or obstructed in any manner in furnishing the information,” the APIC stated.
It said it would invoke disciplinary action under the RTI Act in case the PIOs fail to comply with the order.
