Committee seeks cancellation of e-tender

NAHARLAGUN, Nov 17: The Rakap Sanglum Village Development Committee has urged the Naharlagun PWD executive engineer to cancel the e-tender notice for construction of a permanent RCC boundary wall for the proposed Arun Medicity in Pachin Colony here.
In a representation to the EE, the committee said the locals donated the land in 1999 for establishing a 500-bedded referral hospital, and not for Arun Medicity. It lamented that the state government had failed to establish the referral hospital.
The committee also claimed that the government only paid for clearing the jungle in the area. It said that on 1 April, 2016, the then chief minister Kalikho Pul had visited the site and assured the villagers that Group C and technical posts would be given to the affected families. “But the authority has not fulfilled our demands and grievances,” it said.
The committee’s demands include, inter alia, appointing members of the affected families in Group C and technical posts as land compensation, compensation for lost and damaged agricultural crops, and offering major tenders works to the landowners.
