NAHARLAGUN, Nov 23: The Sikh community residing in the capital complex celebrated Guru Nanak Jayanti with religious fervour to mark the 549th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev at the gurudwara here on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, state BJP vice-president Tame Phassang urged the people to follow the teachings of Guru Nanak to bring about a better, peaceful and developed society.
“The most important teaching of Guru Nanakji was to spread love, equality and fraternity,” he said, and urged the people to follow the teachings of the first Sikh guru to lead peaceful lives.
“The Sikh community is known for their bravery, righteousness and humanity. I am very much touched by the Sikh community and their way of service to the people,” Phassang said, and assured to provide all assistance to the community residing in the capital complex.
Among others, state BJP prabhari Ligu Tacho joined the celebration.
Shabad kirtan, Anand Sahib Path and Guru Ka Langer were the special features of the celebration, which was organized by the Gurudwara Singh Sabha Prabhandak Committee here.
