DAPORIJO, Nov 26: A 12-day training programme on writing in the Tagin language using modified Roman script (MRS) concluded here on Monday.
The training was conducted by the Tagin Language Development Committee under the aegis of the Tagin Cultural Society (TCS) at various administrative headquarters of Upper Subansiri district from 15 to 26 November.
Earlier, inaugurating the training session at Limeking on 15 November, TCS secretary general Lardik Kare raised concern over the diminishing number of Tagin language speakers.
“If the government and the civil society do not take mitigating measures, the Tagin language will become extinct in the next 50 years or so,” he said.
The training covered nine administrative headquarters where writing and reading skills in the Tagin language in MRS were taught by resource persons Baman Gyama, Mato Maying and Taki Dugi.
