Seminar on traditional folk art and culture

TARAJULI, Dec 3: A seminar on ‘Traditional folk art and culture of Arunachal Pradesh’ was organized by the NGO, Changkiu Bagang VFMC, at the AT School, here in Papum Pare district on Monday.
Primary and middle school students of the area were also given classes on traditional folk art, music and theatre.
Chairman of the NGO, Chungma Bagang highlighted that the programme intends to make students aware of the “real meaning of culture.”
He highlighted that culture was beyond mere dancing and singing, and involved living and practicing the traditions passed down by the forefathers.
Former Zilla Parishad Member Khya Choya highlighted about the importance of the folk art and encouraged more participation.
Resource person Shanti Bodi highlighted that different forms of traditional culture, folklore and music are going out of practise day by day, while AT School Principal Sinus Minj Minj impressed upon the organizers to conduct such programmes in the villages so that villagers also learn the importance of preserving folk art.
The day-long seminar was sponsored by the S&F Section Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
