PASIGHAT, Dec 9: East Siang Deputy Commissioner T Tatak chaired a stakeholders’ meeting here on Saturday in connection with the establishment of an integrated command and control centre (ICCC) under the Pasighat Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (PSCDCL) of the Smart City Mission (SCM).
Tatak, who is also the PSCDCL chairman, asked all stakeholders, including government departments, to give feedback on the ‘smart proposals’ for Pasighat, which have been prepared based on surveys for the smart city implementation.
The town planning department’s town planner Likha Suraj informed that the state government has signed an MoU with the Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), entrusted under the SCM, to prepare a feasibility report and integrate all ‘smart elements’ under one roof (the ICCC) for establishing a liveable city and improved quality of life.
The proposed smart elements include parking, traffic management, public address system, transport system, city Wi-Fi, e-learning, help desk, and so on.
These elements will be taken up in three phases, Suraj informed.
The town planner also called for stakeholders to give feedback on major issues, and for prioritizing the proposed smart elements for finalization of the proposals’ implementation.
BEL deputy manager Manoj Kumar and manager Vipin Kumar made a presentation on the establishment of an ICCC.
They said ‘smart solutions’ would be an integral part of the smart city project, adding that the BEL’s proposal under the SCM for the Northeast states focuses on “ICCC approach, city wise surveillance and monitoring centre and three-phase project implementation of the proposed smart elements.”
The proposals under the SCM have been drawn up after a survey of the cities in the NE region by the BEL and local authorities. The proposals seek to address a range of challenges faced by the cities. (DIPRO)
