MEKA, Dec 16: Chief Minister Pema Khandu hailed the role of the churches in promoting clean election campaigns, and said such sustained campaign would have a positive impact and make way for good leaders to emerge.
Attending the Advent Christmas celebration at the Baptist church here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Sunday, the chief minister recalled the efforts of the early missionaries who toiled hard in spreading the message of peace, education and health in the state when there were no road connectivity and modern facilities.
Underlining the importance of religion, Pema said all religions emphasize the same message of love, patience, tolerance and forgiveness.
“One can attain salvation through any faith,” he said.
He sought active participation of all religious bodies and community-based organizations for peace and development in the state, and thanked the efforts of these bodies in maintaining communal harmony in the state.
The chief minister assured to provide fund for construction of a boundary wall around the newly-built Baptist church here.
