Compassionate appointment candidates seek early recruitment

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: Expressing concern over the inordinate delay in appointing eligible candidates to various posts in the Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) on compassionate grounds, a section of the candidates who have applied for the posts has requested the police authorities to complete the recruitment process by January 2019.
The candidates said the advertisement for the posts had been published on 4 November, 2015 (Order No PHQ/PER-118/2015) by the office of the director general of police (DGP), proposing to fill up various posts in the APP with candidates whose guardians died in harness.
“In November 2015, we were called for physical verification and documentation, and it was held successfully.
However, even after completion of physical verification and documentation, there has been no progress in the said matter, which is causing us much concern,” the candidates stated in a press release on Monday.
They said a notification had later been issued by the home department on 1 February, 2017, pertaining to the constituting of a committee, with the DGP as its chairman, to examine all cases of compassionate appointment.
“Even after submitting repeated letters praying for immediate appointment on compassionate grounds, we are awaiting our appointments. Such inordinate delay in the appointment process is a big slap to all the family members of the deceased police personnel who have died in harness,” the candidates said, adding that they would be compelled to stage a dharna if the process of appointment is not completed by January.
