DAPORIJO, Jan 5: Tagin Cultural Society (TCS) secretary-general Lardik Kare on Saturday strongly criticized the state government for “intentionally conducting the pre-board exam during the Si-Donyi festival.”
Addressing the people on the second day of the festival here in Upper Subansiri district, Kare said “the believers among the student community and government staffs have been kept busy in preparations for the exam, which resulted in less participation in the festival.”
He claimed that the government did this knowingly, and termed it “a humiliation and deprivation of the whole Tagin community.”
Referring to various projects in the district, Kare said their implementation was a failure. He also accused the state and central governments of making false promises, citing “non-fulfillment of the government’s promises to complete the works of road connectivity from Taliha to Tato and Daporijo to Taksing within the stipulated time” as examples.
Kare also said the state government and the IPR department “deprive the Tagin community in many aspects” while carrying out promotional activities, “including printing and publicity work,” for cultural activities of various communities of the state.
He added that the MLAs of the district should focus on overall development of the district.
The festival celebration started on Friday with traditional fervour.
