Lava FC pip PTC 1-0 in VCFT opener

RONO HILLS, Jan 12: Lava FC pipped PTC 1-0 in the opening match of the 6th state level Veteran Cup Football Tournament (VCFT), which began at the playground here in Papum Pare district on Saturday.
Nabam Bapu scored the winner in the 69th minute, which fetched him the ‘man of the match’ award.
Director General of Police SBK Singh, who kicked of the tournament, hailed the organising of the tournament for veterans, saying it would not only motivate young players but also help the participants maintain good health and physique.
Singh said such tournaments also foster friendship and help maintain communal harmony.
Ten teams are participating in the tournament, and they have been divided into two pools of five, informed organizing secretary Tadar Rupu.
The semifinals will be played on 23 January and the final on 25 January, he said.
Rajiv Gandhi University’s information technology department head Prof KH Kabi, Papum Pare SP Tumme Amo, PTC DSP Dusu Kaling, organising committee chairman Toko Tatung and vice chairman Tadar Baro were also present on the occasion.
The tournament is organized by E&Ks in collaboration with Capital Complex Sporting Club, under the aegis of the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association.
