SLEC vets DPRs of 17 projects

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The state level empowered committee (SLEC) meeting for techno-economic vetting of DPRs approved under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) held here on Tuesday vetted the DPRs of 17 projects worth Rs 342.38 crore.
The vetted DPRs of the 17 projects, comprising road construction, school infrastructure development and water supply, will be placed before the inter-ministerial committee of the NESIDS.
Some of the important water supply projects are augmentation of water supply in Aalo, Hapoli and Bhalukpong, and augmentation and improvement of water supply in Miao town.
Construction of rigid pavement in Tawang, CC pavement in Likabali township, construction of road from the BRTF road to Pidi circle headquarters, construction of road from Likwa Gyadi to Gyawepurang headquarters, etc, were some of the road projects approved by the SLEC.
Infrastructure development of the government higher secondary school in Kanubari (Longding district) and infrastructure development of the Sainik School in Niglok (East Siang) were some important school infrastructure development projects which were taken up during the meeting.
Chief Secretary Satya Gopal, who chaired the meeting, said the technical board and implementing departments would have to strictly adhere to the guidelines prescribed by the DoNER ministry and the state government.
Referring to the DPR of road construction from Longkhow to Pumao circle headquarters in Longding district, the CS advised the engineers to “adopt innovative technology while not compromising on quality.”
He asked the engineers to “adopt feasible and better technology, which will bring out a durable infrastructure.”
Gopal also impressed upon the DoNER ministry to form a third-party monitoring committee to inspect and verify the quality of the projects.
Earlier, NESIDS 2018-19 Technical Board Chairman Atop Lego highlighted the DPRs of the projects through a PowerPoint presentation.
DoNER Ministry Director Ravindra Chaudhury, Principal Home Secretary AC Verma, the planning special secretary, the finance secretary, commissioners and secretaries, the chief engineers concerned, the nodal officer for the techno-economic appraisal and other officials were present at the SLEC meeting, which was held at the chief secretary’s conference hall here.
