YINGKIONG, Jan 28: The Upper Siang district ICDS cell organized a ‘Self-Help Group (SHG) Mela’ during the Republic Day celebration here on Saturday, in collaboration with the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission.
More than 10 SHGs participated in the mela, where various products of the SHGs were exhibited and displayed for sale.
BBBP Week ends
Meanwhile, the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Week celebration in Upper Siang ended, coinciding with the R-Day celebration.
Activities such as door-to-door campaign, drawing and painting competitions, baby show and rallies to raise public awareness on the key theme of the celebration were organized during the weeklong programme.
The girl students of the district who excelled in the Class 10 and 12 examinations and in the field of sports were earlier felicitated on National Girl Child Day on 24 January.
More than 130 students in the age group of 11 to 18 years from various schools of the district were given basic self-defence training, and prizes were given away to the winners of the drawing and painting competitions and the baby show.
Deputy Commissioner Tamik Talom had launched the programme on 21 January. (DIPRO)
