KIMIN, Jan 31: In a horrific incident, a 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped here in Papum Pare district on 27 January, according to Child Welfare Committee, Itanagar.
The accused, Chera Gagu had allegedly called the minor to his home on some pretext when he was all alone and raped her, the CWC informed.
The minor was rescued from Kimin on 29 January by a joint team of the Childline Itanagar, District Child Protection Unit of Yupia and the Papum Pare district unit police after one of the Childline coordinators received a call on the Childline toll free no. 1098.
Later, the joint team comprising of Childline coordinator L Elizabeth, legal-cum-probation officer Tarh Nagu, protection officer Techi Ayum and police personnel, produced the child before the Child Welfare Committee of Itanagar-Capital Complex and provided shelter to the minor.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against the accused and the police are conducting raids to arrest him.
