PASIGHAT, Feb 12: The ICDS deputy director organized a coordination meeting with members of Kolkata (WB)-based Childline India Foundation (CIF), heads of offices, and NGO representatives at the DC office here in East Siang district on Tuesday.
Attending the programme, CIF senior coordinator Sabyasachi Chatterjee and programme assistant Abhishikta Bandyopadhyay spoke on the mission and achievements of the CIF.
They informed that ‘Childline 1098’ is a 24-hour free emergency phone outreach service for children in need of care and protection, and that the CIF is responsible for the establishment of Childline centres all across the country.
The organization also functions as a national centre for awareness, advocacy and training on issues related to child protection, they said.
DC (in-charge) Tatdo Borang said the CIF is the nodal agency of the union women & child development ministry, and is acting as the parent organization for setting up, managing and monitoring the Childline 1098 service all over the country.
Later, Chatterjee and Bandyopadhyay interacted with the HoDs and NGO members, held discussions, and participated in a field visit. (DIPRO)
