JIA, Feb 19: Altogether 25 farmers and farmwomen from different SHGs and the Jia Sanggo Dairy Cooperative Society participated in a dairy training programme organised here by the Lower Dibang Valley KVK on Tuesday.
The programme was aimed at creating awareness among the participants about dairy farming and its benefits.
KVK Head Dr TJ Ramesha highlighted the activities of the kendra, and urged the participants to take up dairy farming, adopting scientific management practices for higher economic returns.
Animal science scientist Dr Aniyang Lego highlighted the veterinary department’s livestock schemes and dairy farming methods, and imparted training in fodder cultivation to reduce operational cost.
Lego emphasized on the value of dairy products like curd, cheese, butter, ghee, lassi, etc, as additional income source for SHGs.
Progressive farmwoman Oimang Lego shared her experience of scientific farming of poultry and rabbits.
The participants were later taken on a visit to a small-scale dairy farm where pregnancy detection in dairy cattle and on-farm advisory were demonstrated.
Fodder root slips were also distributed to the participants to motivate them to take up scientific farming.
