Food shortage hits capital

ITANAGAR, Feb 25: The residents of the capital complex are facing food and fuel shortage as the shops and petrol depots have remained closed for the last five days.
“I had to borrow a bag of rice from a friend, but that is not going to be enough, since I have a very large family,” said a mother.
Even though there are food items in stock in the markets, people are facing severe difficulties accessing them, owing to the tense situation.
Another person said she had to share her limited supply of vegetables with her neighbour’s children whose parents are travelling.
Many parents are also struggling to procure baby food.
“It is almost the end of the month, and if the shops do not open my children will have to go hungry,” another person said.
