Dist bandh announced over compensation issue

PALIN, Feb 27: The Arunachal Trans-Highway Indigenous Victims’ Committee has declared a 12-hour Kra Daadi district bandh on 8 March, saying the state government has failed to meet its repeated demand for “re-verification of compensation from Chainage Number 50.47 km to 97.618 km on the Joram-Koloriang road.”
“Since August 2018 we have been submitting representations to the chief secretary, seeking registration of a criminal case against the officials involved in preparing a forged DPR in connection with double-laning of the road from Joram to Koloriang. We have been demanding that the state government re-verify the compensation package and issue direction to pay to the actual landowners who will be affected by the construction of the highway,” the committee said.
Some of the major demands of the committee are: plot wise re-verification from Chainage Number 50.47 km to 97.618 km on the Joram-Koloriang road (NH 713); implementation of the first land acquisition approved by former DC Habung Doni; and halting the ongoing work by TK Engineering till the compensation issue is resolved.
