Skill development prog underway

ROING, Mar 1: Forty underprivileged women and girls from Dibang Valley and Lower Dibang Valley (LDV) districts are undergoing a month-long skill development programme which got underway here in LDV on Friday.
During the programme, which is being organised by the NHPC’s Dibang Multipurpose Project (DMPP) as part of its CSR and sustainable development programme, will involve training the participants in tailoring and handicrafts. It is being organised in collaboration with the textile & handicrafts department.
The inaugural session featured an interaction between the participants and NHPC officials, during which the participants were apprised of the skill development programmes initiated by the government of India.
The NHPC officials and members of SHG Abbe Geba NEH urged the trainees to make the most of the opportunity to develop their skills and earn livelihood.
Besides DMPP senior managers Biliyol Mushahary (HR) and Bharatendu Sharma (PR), the inaugural session was attended by Textiles & Handicrafts Development Officer Runem Tangha and tailoring expert Khatung Sinai.
Each of the trainees will be provided with a foot sewing machine by the DMPP to help them earn their livelihood after the training is over.
