RONO HILLS, Mar 14: The month-long drug awareness programme conducted by a group of students from the Social Work Department of Rajiv Gandhi University in various colleges of the Capital Complex concluded at Don Bosco College, Jollang on Thursday.
Today’s session focused on the common drugs abused, its effects and the importance of abstaining from any kind of psychoactive substances that has a negative consequence in the physical and mental functioning of individuals.
The other institutions that were part of the programme are — Himalayan University, Arunodhaya University, Bini Yanga Women’s College, Government College, Doimukh, Dera Natung College and V.K.V. B.Ed. College.
Academicians specializing in the field of addiction were the resource persons and altogether eight colleges were covered during the awareness drive which started on 16 February at NERIST.
The support offered by the principals of all the institutions towards organizing the programme is commendable and the response and participation from the students across all the colleges was really motivating. This initiative was sponsored by National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
