One arrested for Saaya residence vandalism

ITANAGAR, Mar 27: The police here apprehended one person on Wednesday afternoon in connection with the vandalism that took place at former MLA Likha Saaya’s Nirjuli residence recently.
Identified as the “ringleader” of those responsible for the incident, the accused was released on interim bail on the same day.
Saaya’s residence in Nirjuli in Papum Pare district had come under attack during a public meeting on the night of 24 March.
Sources said Saaya’s supporters, allegedly unhappy with his decision to withdraw from the assembly election, vandalized his property and set fire to furniture and other articles in the premises.
