NAHARLAGUN, Mar 31: Petwa United FC retained the Model Super League (MSL) title, beating league debutant Khampu FC 2-1 in a keenly contested final match at Model Village here on Sunday.
The players of both the sides were unable to convert the opportunities as they faced extreme difficulty in controlling the ball and maintaining balance on a muddy and slippery ground caused by heavy rain coupled with thunderstorm.
Despite the difficulties, Tame Silo broke the deadlock, scoring in the 39th minute to put his team PUFC ahead (1-0).
The second half saw both the sides scoring a goal each.
Techi Tasar netted the second goal for PUFC while Taba Sel scored the only goal for Khampu FC.
The man of the match title was won by Techi Tasar of PUFC.
Tatbang Pertin of PUFC was declared the best player of the league, and Bittu Konwar of Commando FC the best goalkeeper.
Taba Sel of Khampu FC with 13 goals became the highest scorer, while Biri Taring of Queens Gate Public School was chosen as the ’emerging player’.
The ‘fair play team’ award went to Atletico De Model FC.
Earlier, the match was kicked off by Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Tarh Nachung.
