Airlifting of poll officials completed, first team on foot leaves for Cheppe

ITANAGAR, Mar 6: The team of 35 election officials along with election materials for the five polling stations under Taksing circle in Upper Subansiri district was airlifted from Daporijo on Saturday.
The polling stations are Taksing, Gumsing-Tayeng, Kacha, Redding and Ngoring.
With this, the movement of polling personnel to remote polling stations by helicopter is complete, the state chief electoral office informed in a release.
On Friday, 85 election officials along with poll materials for seven polling stations in the Tali assembly constituency in Kurung Kumey district were airlifted. The polling stations are Niobia, Zara, Keba, Tedung, Pipsorang, Korsang and Koapu.
Meanwhile, the polling officials for the Cheppe polling station in Anini assembly constituency in Dibang Valley district also left for their destination on foot on Saturday, making them the first polling team to move on foot for this year’s elections.
Election officials and security personnel along with polling materials were airlifted from Miao on Thursday for four polling stations in remote Vijoynagar circle of Changlang district.
