Postal polling starts

TAWANG, Apr 6: Postal ballots for the simultaneous elections on 11 April were cast here on Saturday by ‘within the district’ voters who have been requisitioned for election duties at various polling stations in Tawang district.
A total of 607 votes, for all three constituencies, were cast till 6:30 pm on Saturday at the DC office here. The ballot boxes were checked and sealed in the presence of the representatives of different political parties.
General observer Vijayendra Kumar, expenditure observer Dharmveer Singh Tandi and DC Sang Phuntsok also visited the polling booth.
Postal voting was also held for three assembly constituencies in Longding district, and the Arunachal East parliamentary constituency, on Saturday.
The assembly constituencies are Kanubari, Longding-Pumao and Pongchao-Wakka.
A total of 210 polling personnel out 220 in Kanubari, 249 out of 274 in Longding-Pumao and 114 out 122 in Pongchao-Wakka cast their votes, registering a voting percentage of 95, 91 and 93.4, respectively.
The voting was held from 9 am to 5.41 pm amid tight security. (DIPROs)
