ROING, Apr 20: Thirty participants benefitted from a training programme on mushroom cultivation, organised by NGO AMYAA here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Saturday.
AMYAA secretary RK Paul Chawang spoke on the varieties of mushrooms, their nutritional properties and commercial value, ways to identify poisonous mushroom, spawn production, and cylinder preparation, particularly for oyster mushrooms, and followed it up with a demonstration.
The demonstration featured paddy straw soaking, steaming, drying and mushroom cylinder preparations.
Chawang also emphasized the scope and importance of mushroom cultivation in enhancing the socioeconomic status of the rural people, especially potential entrepreneurs.
Mushroom spawns and polypropylene bags were later distributed to the trainees.
