ITANAGAR, Apr 21: The state unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) has said it has submitted a petition to the chief electoral officer (CEO) here, demanding re-poll in five polling booths under the Koloriang assembly constituency in Kurung Kumey district, alleging booth capture by the supporters of the BJP candidate during the simultaneous polls on 11 April.
The party demanded that re-poll be conducted at the Parsi-Parlo, Taba, Nampe, Damin and Nyokuriang polling booths as the supporters of the BJP had indulged in booth capturing there.
The party alleged that the supporters of NPP candidate Pani Taram were not allowed to reach the polling stations, because of which they could not cast their votes.
“The matter was also brought to the notice of the district election officer of Kurung Kumey and the state CEO for re-poll, but no action in this regard has been initiated by the election commission till date,” the party said.
