SAGALEE, Apr 26: A four-month-long ‘technical training programme’ on cane and bamboo crafts concluded here in Papum Pare district on Friday.
A host of resource persons, including Senior Crafts Superintendent (T&H) Dipak Sharma, Handicrafts Assistant Director Rajiv Saikia and Handicrafts Promotion Officer Mibin Dirchi from the Itanagar-based handicrafts service extension centre, and North East Multipurpose Development Society president Tapi Taku conducted the programme, which was sponsored by the union handicrafts development commission.
The resource persons highlighted the importance of the training for income generation, and provided details about departmental schemes and the financial support extended by the banks to artisans to start self-employment ventures.
