ITANAGAR, May 2: Chief Secretary Satya Gopal has called for coming up with ways to stop school dropouts.
He said this during a meeting with the officials of the education department on 30 April.
Stating that stopping dropouts is a major task before the education department, Gopal asked the department to identify the factors behind students dropping out of various levels of school education.
“The factors behind students dropping out should be identified and accordingly redressed,” he said.
“Our objective should be to provide the best education and ensure that we are ahead of the national average under the National Achievement Survey,” the CS told the members present at the meeting.
He also said there should not be any discrepancy, and that funds should be spent for the purposes for which they have been granted.
Besides the normal study routine, he said, training in skill development and computer education should be imparted as important parts of school activities.
Education Secretary Madhu Rani Teotia gave information on the budget granted for various policies and programmes under the education department, as well as the status of the programmes.
