Union seeks inquiry into fund misappropriation allegation

ITANAGAR, May 2: Alleging misappropriation of funds and improper implementation of the Chief Minister Samasth Shiksha Yojana (CMSSY) 2018-’19 in Kamle district, the All Kamle District Students’ Union has sought constituting a committee to conduct a probe against the officials involved in the alleged scam.
In a representation to the education secretary, the union claimed that 75 percent of the Rs 3 crore sanctioned to the district in the first phase for implementation of the CMSSY was misappropriated and not utilized properly.
It also claimed that funds received by the district under the ISSE programme were also misappropriated.
“As per the DPR of the schemes, there have been many projects planned to improve the education scenario of the district, which have been neglected and never executed with the conditions defined in the guidelines of the CMSSY scheme. The work completion report certificate against the work is forged and has been obtained with the help of a fake seal and signature of the school management committee, headmaster, principal and teacher in charge of the schools without their consent and knowledge,” the union claimed.
It further urged the authorities to halt the release of the remaining 25 percent of funds under the second phase of the CMSSY until an inquiry is instituted.
